MOST IMPORTANT!

3.

Utilise the Waste Wise program - it has fantastic tools to help your business become more sustainable.
Start simple - put signage on your bins or 'turn it off' stickers on your switches.
Ask for assistance - there are heaps of great programs and people to help you along the way!
Saving Energy

All non-essential electrical equipment is switched off at the end of the day - power boards with individual switches are used to make this easier.
Natural light is used before turning on lights - desks are positioned to make the most of windows.
Fluoro light globes have been installed throughout the building.
'Turn it off' stickers are positioned on all light switches and equipment.
We travel by train and car pool whenever possible.
We recently purchased a Honda Civic Hybrid has to replace a 6 cylinder car.
Saving Water

We use tank water in the kitchens.
All toilets are dual flush toilets.
Our water consumption is only 200 litres a year!
Reducing waste

We use a three bin systems for recycling and waste management.
Over 90% of our waste is diverted from landfill.
We always print double sided.
Addresses are printed directly onto envelopes instead of mail labels.
Newsletters and other non-essential documents are emailed or posted on the website instead of printing and posting.
We recycle our printer cartridges and mobile phones.

Reusing Resources

Faxes and printers that don't print double sided contain paper that has already been printed on one side.
Envelopes and single printed paper is used for scrap.
Policies & Programs

Our group is in the process of investigating carbon offsets to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from our energy use and vehicles that we can't do without.
Our Regional Waste Management Group has a clearly defined purchasing policy and spends over $20,000 a year on green puchasing (copy paper, all company stationary, envelopes, produces resources - brochures / flyers and posters).
We purchase 10% green power for the Wedderburn office and 100% green power for the Avoca Office.
CMRWMG is a Silver level Waste Wise business.
