MOST IMPORTANT!

******************
1.

2.

3.
There are more things that can be recycled than you'd think! Check the community recycling link above for examples.

'Green' grants and funding may be available for businesses to install solar power and water tanks - it's worth looking for them!

Fridges and air conditioners can be made safe for recycling - consider degassing old refrigerated units through a certified authority.
Saving Energy

Air operated tools were purchased to replace current high-energy power tools.
Equipment is turned off when not in use.
Standard fluoro globes are sourced from the local hospital and used in all sheds.
Doors are opened for light and air flow rather than turning on lights.
We are aiming to install solar panels in the near future to power the whole site.

Saving Water

We intend to install water tanks in our new premises.
A kettle is used in the kitchen rather than an urn.
Dual flush toilets have been installed
Reducing waste

Separate bins are provided for aluminium cans.
Newspapers and cardboard are baled.
Each employee brings in their own (named) mug in place of polystyrene cups.
Reusing Resources

Encouraging industry and businesses in Bendigo to Sort and Save - sort waste and save on tip fees.
We are forming alliances with other recycling businesses - i.e. plastics, polystyrene and metals.
We reuse items that have been brought in by people for recycling - e.g. iron beds are reused for shelving.
Policies & Programs

Instigated a Solid Waste Management Committee to increase awareness of waste management and recycling potential within local recycling services.
Established educational programs aimed at schools and community groups to reinforce 'reduce, reuse, recycle' message.
