MOST IMPORTANT!

1.

2.

Every person have the capability to reduce their ecological footprint easily.

Simple changes in day-to-day practices will make a difference.

Saving Energy

Turn off equipment when not in use. Lights are set up with timers to turn off when not used.
All lights and equipment are switched off overnight.
Any equipment that has to be left on during the day has an efficient 'energy saving' mode - this is a factor in our choice of equipment when purchasing. (Apart from a couple of display stock computers that don't have an energy save mode - the priority was recycling resources instead of throwing them out!)
We have a very small hot water unit (25 litres) on the premises, but we've switched it off and use the kettle for hot water on the odd occasion we need it.

Saving Water

We use very little water, but we do have dual flush toilets.
When making coffee we only put in as much water as we need, which saves time in boiling as well as saving water and energy.
Reducing waste

We have set up three separate bins for landfill, recycling and reusable paper.
There are no disposable cups or plates on the premises - we only use 'real' crockery.
We don't offer plastic bags for sales - we only provide them on request.
We encourage people to use 'green' bags - we sell them, but at what they cost us to purchase.
We have a box for people to drop off their old printer cartridges for recycling.
Reusing Resources

We reuse paper for scraps and notes.
We are affiliated with Cartridge World and reduce landfill by refilling our printer cartridges.
We are a drop off point for old computers and monitor parts. Anything that cannot be reused is be taken to Byteback, and intiative set up by the City of Boroondara in Melbourne. Byteback recycles the electronic components thus reducing landfill.
We reuse the same page many times for test prints when fixing printers, then recycle them through standard paper recycling.

Ever since its inception, ecopc has strived to reduce our ecological footprint and help our customers to do so.
